Lot Essay

IN THE 1740S THE PORCELAIN FIGURES AND GROUPS FROM MEISSEN SERVED AS THE DELFT MODELLERS' SOURCE OF INSPIRATION. THE AMAZING OUTPUT OF FIGURES CREATED BY J.J. KAENDLER INFLUENCED THE DELFT MANUFACTURERS TO A LARGE EXTENT. WHEN THE SEVEN YEARS WAR ERUPTED IN 1756, MEISSEN IMPORTS OF PORCELAIN CEASED AND THIS RESULTED IN A GREATER DEMAND OF DUTCH DELFT FIGURES. THIS FIANCéE DU PêCHEUR GROUP IS UNUSUALLY WELL MODELLED FOR A DELFTWARE GROUP.
