Marked Grachev Brothers with the Imperial warrant, Cyrillic maker's mark 'AP', St. Petersburg, circa 1890
Of traditional form, on oval foot, with raised prow surmounted by ribbed finial, with flat shaped handle, the body enameled with stylized scrolling foliage in red, blue, green, turquoise and white on a gilt-stippled ground, beneath a band enameled with a stylized varicolor trailing vine on a red-brown ground, the handle with conforming decoration centering a medallion with applied Cyrillic monogram 'SM' above a scrolling serpent-form support, in the original fitted wood case stamped 'GRACHEV BROS. ST. PETERSBURG' beneath the Imperial warrant, marked under base, on foot rim and under handle
