Lot Essay

The present watch is the perfect paradigm for Cartier's "black and white" design highly fashionable in the 1910s which served as inspiration for the firm's famous "Panther" model which first appeared in 1914.

Of outstanding elegance, the watch impresses with the unusual yet highly attractive combination of diamonds, black onyx and white seed pearls and its very good, original overall condition.

The rarity is enhanced by the unusual eight-row bracelet, although not mentioned in the records of Cartier it can safely be assumed that it was added shortly after the sale at the original owner's request.
