A BACTRIAN GOLD BOSS
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C./A.D.
Probably a harness fitting, the domed boss composed of multiple tear-drop, circular and leaf shape cells forming the curled up body of a wolf, his head emerging from one side, jaws open, tail curled behind, turquoise inlays remaining, a long attachment loop fixed on the interior; and a western Eurasian Steppe culture gold semi-circular tubular fitting, decorated in filigree on either side with a recumbent boar, circa 5th Century B.C.
1 in. (2.5 cm.) and 1 1/8 in. (2.9 cm.) long respectively (2)
