Lot Essay

For a polished vase of the same form, see Mary Campbell Gristina et al., The Wark Collection, Early Meissen Porcelain (Jacksonville, 1984), p. 80, no. 11. Three vases of similar form, from the Collection of 'the Head of a European Royal House', were sold by Christie's Geneva on 7th June 1968, lots 19-21 (lot 20 corresponds closely to the present lot and had a silver-gilt cover).
