CIRCA 1715-20, THE BAYREUTH DECORATION CIRCA 1740
Probably decorated in the workshop of J.F. Metzsch, potted off centre, the lower part moulded with up-turned acanthus leaves enriched in purple and gilding, below two river landscape vignettes with shepherds and shepherdesses within shaped gilt band cartouches surmounted by shells and branches, the sides with gilt strapwork and scrolls suspending garlands, the interior with flowers below a similar strapwork border and gilt band rim (rim with very small restored chip with associated crack, borders with small associated areas of retouching to gilt scroll on interior and exterior, footrim with slight restored chipping, interior with wear to border)
