AN EXCEPTIONAL AND UNIQUE RANGE OF FINEST AND RAREST BORDEAUX DIRECT FROM THE CELLARS OF A RESPECTED BORDEAUX NEGOCIANT One of the benefits of buying at Christie's is that the wine we sell is not only from prestigious makers, but it frequently boasts excellent provenance as well. On this occasion the following lots 126 to 190 are from an incredible collection of rare vintages that have lain in the cellar of an internationally acclaimed Bordeaux négociant since they were first created. The collection has been shipped to Hong Kong specifically for this sale, providing a unique opportunity to acquire exquisite First Growths and other fine Châteaux from many of the outstanding vintages of the 20th century. The collection dates as far back as 1905 to vintages that are exceedingly hard to find today. Adding to the appeal of these wines is the fact that the majority of the collection was recorked and reconditioned by the respective Châteaux in 1997/1998. In this collection all of the bottles have excellent appearance; good labels and levels, displaying a standard of perfection that is hard to come by for wines of this age and are in their original wooden cases unless stated otherwise. Highlights from this collection include: Château Lafite Rothschild - an extensive selection from the following vintages: 1945, 1949, 1950, 1952, 1953, 1955, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1964, 1966, 1967, 1971, 1976, 1978, and 1981 including a variety of formats; half-bottles, bottles, magnums, double magnums, jeroboams and impérials Château d'Yquem - the very rare 1918 and 1919 vintages Château Mouton-Rothschild - extremely rare full cases of 1944, 1952 and 1953 Château Haut-Brion - a jeroboam of 1924 vintage Château Latour - the legendary 1959 vintage

Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1945
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Recorked in 1998. Excellent appearance. Levels into neck. In Christie's carton
Tasting Note: Latterly, a perfect bottle in 2003: superb bouquet that held for 5 hours; still sweet, spicy, gorgeous sustained flavour. Most recently: another faultless bottle: lovely soft colour; classic bouquet, sweet, touch of iron, fragrant, developed richly; also sweet on the palate, mouthfilling flavour, life-preserving tannin still evident. A lovely wine. Last tasted Nov 2005 ***** M.B.
