The body painted and gilt on two sides with the addorsed coats-of-arms for new Portugal and of Lisbon below a bishop's hat, the flaring rim with a floral scroll, florets and swags around the base

Lot Essay

These arms were borne by the Resident Canons of the Royal Monastery of São Fora in Lisbon. The order was founded by Saint Augustine and the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora was built in 1147 by order of the 1st King of Portugal, Afonso Henriques.
