Lot Essay

The theme of longevity resonates through the piece. The god of Longevity stands beside a deer, itself an auspicious symbol of long life, the attendant profers a peach, a further representation of longevity, and finally a pomegranate, whose numerous seeds make it a symbol of fertility.
