The box of squat bombé form, painted in the style associated with Melhorn, one side with a figure ploughing a field, the other with a river landscape, within elongated quatrefoil gilt cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels and gilt and ombrierte red scrolls, divided at the ends by indianische Blumen, the domed cover with a river landscape with a thatched cottage and figures in a boat, within an oval iron-red scroll and lappet cartouche enclosed by a gilt border of interlocking scrolls and flowerheads, gilt band rim (glazed frit to rim and rim of cover, minor wear to gilding)
