A young officer, probably of the Yeomanry or Volunteer Cavalry, in dark blue coat faced red with silver braid loops terminating in tassels, red-trimmed collar and epaulettes, black stock, powdered hair worn à l'antique
signed with initials 'ITB' (lower right)
on ivory
oval, 2½ in. (63 mm.) high, gold locket-frame, the glazed reverse with plaited hairwork
The backing paper of the miniature is inscribed 'J Barber pinxt 25 Southhampton St London 1802'
