HIGHLY RATED CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE FROM TWO SUPERB VINTAGES
Recently removed from excellent cellarage
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine de la Modorée, La Plume du Peintre--Vintage 2005
Rhône. Domaine-bottled: Delorme
In original individual wooden case with presentation booklet. Bottle number 442 of 1500
Tasting note: Not that it is easy to find or afford, but if you have sufficient wealth, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape La Plume du Peintre (100 old vine Grenache from La Crau) is out of this world. It is much more accessible and opulent than the behemoth 2003, but is still so concentrated that it will evolve for 40+ years. It is a rare, rare jewel of Châteauneuf du Pape.
This superb Châteauneuf du Pape estate is run by Chrisophe Delorme and his brother from their cellars in Tavel. They produce spectacular Châteauneuf du Pape's as well as top-notch Lirac's, and glorious Côtes du Rhônes and Tavel rosés. Their Châteauneuf du Papes have been recognized by the village vignerons in their Festival of St.Marc, where Mordorée frequently finishes first or second in those blind tastings.
