The waisted case with cherub finial and glazed side panels, ormolu dial with enamel chapters and centre signed 'RAYMOND LENOIR/A PARIS', the movement with rectangular plates and five back-pinned pillars, twin barrels with later anchor escapement, countwheel strike on bell, repeat signature to back plate; pendulum

Provenance
Acquired by Charles Robert, 6th Earl Spencer (1857-1922) on 19 January 1915, from D.L. Isaac, New Oxford Street, for the Dining Room at Spencer House, for £35.
Thence by descent to Albert, 7th Earl Spencer (1892-1975) at Spencer House until removed to Althorp, Northamptonshire circa 1926.

Albert Edward John, 7th Earl Spencer (1892-1975), Althorp, Furniture, Vol. I, circa 1970 - 'A new bracket was made by Messrs. Dent and the ormolu mounts by Messrs. Hatfield in 1969. The bracket was painted by Mr. R.A. Simmons.'
