A Mother-of-pearl-inlaid and Lacquered-wood Document Box
Joseon dynasty (late 19th-20th century)
The rectangular box composed of a deep lower box and overhanging cover that ends just above the base and which is decorated in mother-of-pearl inlay across the lid and onto the sides with a boy frolicking amongst grape-vine arabesques contrasting with the rich, reddish-brown lacquer ground, the interior and base also lacquered
Length 13½in. (34.3cm.) x width 8in. (30.3cm.) x height 4 1/8in. (10.5cm.)
