The compressed bulbous body cast in high relief with a band of bosses interrupted by a pair of pierced, curved handles lobed on the exterior and capped by cloud scroll, with further clouds surrounding a "pearl" on each of the three supports, the countersunk base cast with a six-character hallmark, Xi shan an niang fo tang, the reddish-brown patina with traces of blackish lacquer or patination

The hallmark, Xi shan an niang fo tang, may be translated as, "The chamber of happiness and the hall of studying Buddhist sutras."
