MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
Carved around the midsection with two birds in flight above lotus, saggitaria and other water plants growing from amidst crashing waves forming the flat foot, with a bat in flight amidst the crests, with two dragons emerging at one end from the waves to form the openwork handle, the larger grasping at flames and clouds above
