AN INDIAN ASTROLABE INSCRIBED IN SANSKRIT
LATE 19TH CENTURY
unsigned and undated, the throne decorated in relief, the limb divided 1-60 by 1 and marked by 5, the mater with a gazetteer, five plates etched one side only, the rete with 26 named star pointers; the reverse with triginometric quadrant, shadow square and six concentric quadrant arcs for the zodiac; pin and horse.
