Reverand Lincoln Sigafoos, a previous owner of Under the Palisades, was a boarder at the Cropsey's home in Hastings as well as a close family friend. Upon the artist's death, Rev. Sigafoos conducted the service that was held in the artist's studio which concluded with a poem that the clergyman had written.
