INDISTINCTLY STAMPED '...D...', CIRCA 1775-80
The square back with arched crestrail carved with alternating piastre and flower-heads supporting an oval portrait medallion with a relief of an Emperor surrounded by laurel branches, within a leaf-tip-carved frame, the padded back, arms and seat with loose cushion covered in grey-blue silk damask, on turned tapering fluted legs ending in toupie feet, inscribed in pencil twice '551' to underside, the gilding refreshed
