Depicting a bantam cock in a hilly landscape with glass bead eyes, signed lower right 'W. Hayes pinxit - Millmans Row 1773 Chelsea', with printed inscription just visible 'BANTUM COCK. PUBLISHED ACCORDING TO ACT OF PARLIAMENT. AUGUST 1771', in a later ebonised and parcel-gilt moulded frame
