A GILDED BRASS AND COPPER (TOMBAK) CANDLESTICK
OTTOMAN TURKEY, 2ND HALF 18TH CENTURY
The wide circular gilt-copper base with flattened shoulder and bulbous centre rising to the gilt-brass stem with numerous ring mouldings and tubular mouth, the engraved decoration with floral sprays harmoniously spaced on the base and stem, the base with an inscription reading sahib al-khayrat wa al-hasanat 'Umar Efendi Dada Fu'ad (?) bin Awal (?) Muhammad 2 Ramadan 1200 (29 June 1786 AD), the stem screws to the base, rubbed otherwise in good condition
