Gouache heightened with gold on paper, a young servant wearing brightly coloured robes and a red turban holds open a manuscript from which Hafiz, clad in a long blue coat, reads as he leans upon a long cane and holds a misbaha, laid down between minor red, gold and black rules on gold illuminated blue and white borders, identification inscription above, the reverse with a panel of gold naskh on deep blue ground, the upper right hand corner signed Rahmatullah, similarly laid down between minor gold and polychrome rules on gold illumianted buff card borders
