Lot Essay

The inscription cartouche reads Amal-e Ustad (the work of the master) 3133.

The rug depicts the meeting of two Sikh rulers and their entourages, possibly Raja Dhian Singh (1796-1843) on the left meeting Maharaja Sher Singh (1807-1843) on the right.
