A HUNGARIAN SOUP-TUREEN, COVER AND STAND
Maker's mark of Wenzel Gretschl, Budapest, circa 1790
On oval raised stand resting on four feet chased with bearded masks, the stand chased with flutes, laurel leaves and flowers, the oval tureen on spreading base chased with garlands on matted ground, the similarly chased body with water-leaf border, with two bifurcated branch and foliage handles, the raised cover chased with a frieze of garlands on matted ground, the finial cast as a cauliflower, each piece engraved with initials JB beneath Marquis' coronet, fully marked on cover, tureen and stand
