REPUBLIC PERIOD, DINGCHOU YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1937 AND OF THE PERIOD
The pear-shaped body supporting a tall flaring neck, reserved on either side with a shaped panel depicting mountainous riverscapes beside a short inscription, both panels reserved on a finely enamelled scrolling foliage ground, the shoulder and neck with elaborate bands of similar foliage and upright lotus flowers, Qianlong four-character mark within a gilt square

Lot Essay

The inscription on each panel may be translated as 'Summer in Zhu Shan' (Jingdezhen), and includes a cyclical date corresponding to 1937. On one side of the vase the inscription reads jing you (tranquil landscape) and on the other guan song (looking at pines).
