Lot Essay

In July 1817, a painter called Le Genvre was announced in the Chronique de Jersey as making a short stay in Jersey to paint miniatures. It is quite possible that this is the same Le Genvre who visited the island between 1831 and 1838, when a large number of his paintings were sold.
