The pinkish tone and highly limpid appearance of the present diamond strongly suggest a Golconda origin. The Kingdom of Golconda was located in the modern Indian State of Hyderabad. Its legendary mines were the source of many of the world's greatest diamonds such as the Koh-i nur.
