Lot Essay

The word "trombino" derives from the Italian word for trumpet, "tromba". The rings bearing this name resemble small trumpets, hence the term. The design is considered to be one Bulgari's most enduring and well-known. Among the first created was a ring offered as an engagement gift by Giorgio Bulgari to his future spouse Leonilde.
