The inverted pear-shaped ewer on spreading foot and with a reeded handle, engraved with an inscription, the goblets of typical form, each piece cast and chased with strapwork and engraved with foliage, all on a matted ground, the goblets marked near rim, the ewer marked under spout, with an ebonised plinth
the ewer 21 in. (53.5 cm.) high
144 oz. (4,479 gr.)
The inscription reads 'Presented by His Highness the Viceroy of India To The Royal Agricultural Society of England To Be By Them Awarded at Their Leicester Meeting in July 1868 To The Maker of the Best Implement For The Cultivation of the Soil by Steam Power, Combining Strength with Simplicity of Construction Awarded to John Fowler & Co' (7)
