"Wow wow wow! The 1961 Latour-à-Pomerol impresses with its elegance and its vivacity. On the nose the wine still seems very youthful, with rich, black figgy fruit character with an edge of licorice and spice. The wine is barely beginning to show the developed "umami" richness, but has absolutely no beefy or mushroomy notes. On the palate the wine still has a firmness and a classical elegance that is really lovely, along with a silken yet firm tannic structure and great length. Very impressive." CC, August 2009
