LIVERPOOL CRICKET CLUB
Matches of the Liverpool Cricket Club 1847-1864. Liverpool: Webb and Hunt, printers, 1865. Small square 8vo (133 x 112mm). (Some lower margins stained, light marginal browning.) Original green limp cloth, upper cover with title in gilt (covers crinkled, spine frayed, corners bumped). Provenance: [Henry Young, Liverpool (bookseller's label)] -- Fred A. Brooke (letter to him, dated Liverpool Cricket Club, Aigburth Road, Liverpool, 22 July [19]31, from Charles M. Kinnear, asking if he is interested in a book of scores by Liverpool Cricket Club 'being brought out shortly', tipped in at rear).
SCARCE. The club is seen to have played an extraordinary range of opponents, not only Manchester, Warrington and other local clubs, but also the military, barristers, college teams, Eleven Scotchmen, and both the All England and United All England Elevens. Padwick 2210.
