École de Cavalerie. Paris: Huart et Moreau fils, et al., 1751. Folio (433 x 298mm). Engraved additional title, 23 engraved plates, one double-page and 6 folding, by L. Cars, A. Coquart, A. Aveline, J. Audran, N. Tardieu after A. Coquart and J. Parrocel, engraved headpieces, woodcut title vignette, head- and tailpieces and initials. (Engraved title with stain and light waterstain, a few plates very lightly browned, very few spots.) Later half calf.
Second enlarged folio edition. École de Cavalerie first appeared in 16° format in 1729-31, and was first published in a folio format two years later. The second folio edition was based on that of 1733, described by Mennessier de la Lance as 'un des plus beaux ouvrages qui aient paru en France sur le cheval'; it used the same plates with a reset text and the addition of the 'Traité du Haras', which appears on pp. 306-318.
