one cap with inscription 'Lodetti' and 'Chamié' (on the inside); the second with inscription 'Granzeva' (on the inside)
Together with a letter dated 7 February 1921 from Nijinsky's wife to the Editor of the Daily Graphic refuting his announced death; two issues of the Daily Graphic in which his death is announced (7 February 1921) and his wife's letter subsequently published (11 February 1921); Royal Opera Programme, Covent Garden, London for Nijinsky's first appearance on 21 June 1911; a photograph signed by Serge Lifar of him in the role of 'La chatte'; two books: Nijinsky. Sale room notice
According to Sotheby's 14 December 1995 catalogue and the recollections of Serge Grigorieff mentioned therein, the dancers' caps were hand-painted by Henri Matisse for the inaugural 1920 production of 'Le chant du Rossignol'.
