Engraved map, partially hand-colored, 383 x 502 mm. Latin text on verso. (Some light staining and offsetting.) Matted and framed.
"This important map was one of the most attractive of the Americas at the time" (Burden). It is noted for the fact that its primary source is the first manuscript figurative map of the Dutch fur trader Adriaen Block: Bleau's printed version was the first full representation of it in print. It is also the first printed document to delineate an insular Manhattan.
