Lot Essay

The device on this ring stone is a combination of a Tau-cross and the letter "X" for the Greek word "XPICTOC" (Christ). The Tau-cross is also known as the Cross of St. Antony, as it is the iconographical attribute of Antoninus the Great, the founder of Monasticism in Egypt.
