With its Prince of Wales' feathers, this plume-supported bracket is inspired by patterns published by A. Hepplewhite & Co., The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, London, 1788-1794, pls. 90-91. An identical pair of wall-brackets - presumably executed in the same workshop but with added platforms to the tops, was sold anonymously, Christie's London, 30 November 2000, lot 132.
