Each arched close-nailed padded back and seat upholstered in 18th century gros and petit-point needlework with flowering urns and flowers, on cabriole legs with scrolled faceted knees and feet, joined by stretchers, the turned back stretchers 19th century, two side stretchers replaced to one chair, the needlework basically 18th century with extensive re-weaving, one chair with back legs slightly reduced

This type of 'Parlour chair', with triumphal arched needlework back, featured as early as 1717 on 'India' [Chinese] fashion parlour chairs inventoried in 1717 at Canons Ashby, Northamptonshire (A.
