Lot Essay

This piece and the sculpture in lot 111 offered here are from a series of twelve noon marks works by Jonathan Bonner. A noon mark is an object that indicates solar noon. When installed on a concrete foundation outside and facing due south, the shadow of the nose hits the line at the sun's highest point in the sky.

We would like to thank Jonathan Bonner for his assistance in the cataloguing of this lot.
