The pair of sauce boats each on an oval shaped stand on four scroll and foliage feet, the detachable sauce boats each on oval shaped foot, rising towards a short stem supporting the bowl, applied with two leaf-handles, each with parcel-gilt liner, the foot engraved with the crowned monogram MT for Maria Theresia Braganza, dents, marked on bowls and stands

Lot Essay

Maria Theresia Braganza, Infantin of Portugal (1855-1944) was the third wife of Archduke Karl Ludwig of Austria (1833-1896), and therefore became the sister-in-law of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria (1830-1916). Maria Theresia and Karl Ludwig had two daughters, Archduchess Maria Annunziata of Austria (1876-1961) and Archduchess Elisabeth Amalie of Austria (1878-1960).
