Lot Essay

The present figure appears to be known in at least one other version at Biel House, Haddingtonshire which is illustrated in L. Weaver, English Leadwork: Its Art and History, London, 1909, fig. 291.
Another related figure depicted with his hound is at Swaffham, Norfolk.
