Lot Essay

René Lalique designed 30 car mascots. The first was the Faucon dating from 6 August 1925 and this was followed by the Comète on 24 August. Car mascots proved to be particularly popular in Britain, where they were retailed through the Breves Gallery, who manufactured their own mounts.
