1703, PROBABLY WILTSHIRE
The red clay enriched overall in mottled-brown beneath a lead glaze, of tapering form with four ribbed strap handles and conical cover, the rim of the bowl set with an applied whistle and incised BE/MERY/ALL/DRINK/OF/THE/BEST/DRINK/AND/LEEF/THE/SMAL, above a serrated band and the date 1703, one side incised with a square panel issuing scrolls, the reverse with three stylized trees, the cover incised with similar trees issuing flowers, on a spreading conical foot, within tooled and serrated bands
