Case unsigned, circa 1700, movement signed Simon Cuper, Blois, circa 1700
With gilt finished verge movement, engraved and pierced cock, spiral spring regulator, chain fusée, the dial with later added gilt chapter ring with Roman numerals, centred by a painted polychrome enamel scene depicting a farmer in a landscape, the case with painted polychrome enamel landscape vignettes to the border framed by foliage and flowers in yellow on blue ground, the reverse with a painted polychrome enamel scene depicting the Roman Charity, the interior with a caramel coloured scene depicting a wanderer in a classical landscape, later added painted bezel, pendant and bow, movement signed

Lot Essay

The Huaud Brothers were appointed enamel painters to the Elector of Brandenburg in 1686, and were dismissed on 16 August 1700.
