Lot Essay

According to family tradition, the crewel-work elements of the bed were worked by three unmarried sisters of the Herrick family. The 18th century house at Beaumanor was destroyed or demolished in 1841 and replaced by a Jacobean style house. It seems probable that the bed in it's present form came into being during the 1840's. Beaumanor was a famous outstation of Bletchley Park in the Second World War and was sold by the family soon after 1945.
