Amaranth-strung throughout, the rectangular top with a three-quarter gallery above a part mahogany-lined frieze drawer and three open shelves containing eighty cloth and leather-bound volumes including Balzac, Bulwer and the Oeuvres de Voltaire, on a plinth base with castors, plinth and castors later, metalwork later
