A Polychrome Wood Memorial Tablet
Joseon dynasty (late 19th century)
Cut in the shape of clouds and carved in high relief across the front surfaces with three dragons writhing through clouds, two flanking the sides and one the top of the recessed inscription niche, the tablet set into a stepped, oblong base of lotus form carved on the front halves with overlapping lotus leaves and across the front half of the top of the base with clouds; the back of the tablet not carved, but painted on the tablet with cloud outlines and on the upper base with clouds and the lower base with lotus leaves
17¼in. (43.8cm.) high overall; 9¼in. (23.5cm.) wide approx.
