A bronze figure of Lakshmi
Khmer, Angkor period, 12th century
Standing on a round base with both hands outstretched, wearing a long sampot with the waist folded over and a fishtail sash, adorned with a torque and other jewelry, the hair drawn into a conical chignon and secured with a wide tiara
4 in. (10.2 cm.) high

Specialist note

Pal regards this sculpture as remarkably well-preserved, as it is unusual to have the handheld attributes still present. In this case, she holds a lotus bud, suggesting her identity is Lakshmi.
