Standing on a round base with both hands outstretched, wearing a long sampot with the waist folded over and a fishtail sash, adorned with a torque and other jewelry, the hair drawn into a conical chignon and secured with a wide tiara

Lot Essay

Pal regards this sculpture as remarkably well-preserved, as it is unusual to have the handheld attributes still present. In this case, she holds a lotus bud, suggesting her identity is Lakshmi.
