A table of similar style and proportions is illustrated by R. H. Ellsworth, Chinese Furniture, New York, 1971, pl. 66. The term banzhuo, or 'half-table', is typically given to tables of this type without long surfaces; often they would be placed beside longer tables to create a larger top for eating or working.
