A RARE CARVED RHINOCEROS HORN CUP
17TH CENTURY
Finely carved inside and out as a lotus leaf rising from a base of churning waves in which seven sinuous chilong weave in and out with two larger openwork chilong forming the handle and one in the interior, the material of deep honey tone
7 1/8 in. (18.2 cm) long
Provenance
Acquired in Philadelphia in the early 1930s, and thence by descent within the family.
